Humanitarian Ethos

At the heart of Dr. Mandal’s legacy lies a deeply personal, moral commitment to healing beyond the hospital walls. His work is guided not only by clinical excellence but by an unshakable belief in equitable healthcare. He is not a doctor confined to the corridors of elite hospitals—his reach extends to rural Bengal, where he has personally conducted and supervised hundreds of free health camps and cardiac screenings. Dr. Mandal believes that access to quality healthcare should not be determined by geography or income.

It is this philosophy that drove him to pioneer the Telecardiology STEMI programme—a groundbreaking initiative that connects remote primary healthcare centres to specialised cardiac care hubs via technology, ensuring timely intervention in life-threatening cardiac events. In times of crisis, Dr. Mandal is always on the frontlines. During the COVID-19 pandemic, while others were stepping back, he took zero days off, managing critically ill cardiac patients—including those infected with COVID-19—and personally contributing to relief funds and disaster management efforts like the Amphan cyclone relief camps. He has also treated high-profile national figures—including Former Presidents Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Hon’ble CMs Late Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Mamata Banerjee with the same dignity and dedication he offers to his poorest rural patient.

For many in Bengal, he is not just a doctor, but a figure of trust, compassion, hope. Dr. Saroj Mandal’s humanitarian ethos is not a side note to his career—it is its defining essence. He exemplifies what it means to blend science with service, success with social purpose.
